CCNS Show/New Paintings

i will be exhibiting new work in Rowayton CT in June.
CCNS ART SHOW /June 9-12 (more samples of my work are attached below)
The website ccnsartshow.com describes the show on their home page as:
This spring, CCNS will once again convert the ‘little red schoolhouse in Rowayton’ into a professional art gallery showcasing over 100 local and nationally recognized artists. The French Salon style Art Show offers one of the biggest and most diverse selections of original art for sale in Fairfield County, attracting art buyers from all over the Northeast. Even if you are just browsing… it’s a weekend worth marking on your calendar.
I’ve shown here in the past but it has been a few years back. I focused these paintings on the coastal community I live by and love. There are a few new beach figure works. I have one luminous piece with a small white boat inspired from the Crescent Beach setting in Rowayton. There are naturally 2 marsh paintings based on our wetlands areas and Farm Creek. And there are a few more surprises that I hope everyone will enjoy. These quick photos do not do the lush painting surfaces of these works justice. So I guess you’ll just have to go see them in person. Enjoy!
I will not be able to make the opening night. I am Santa Fe bound for two weeks. More art! WEEEEEE.

As for Lori/me, I will be opening my doors as well. My current work is figurative. During the NCC College Spring Break (13-19) , I will be in a printing workshop at CCP. With any luck, my studio will be plastered with fresh new figurative prints created during that week.

i love to Draw.
At the college, I experiment with different mediums at open figure drawing. It is my goal to attend all of those sessions. I’m working and reworking figure drawing. I hope to become more abstract with my direction as I progress. I’m also working out a series of small ceramic pieces with figurative content. I’ll photograph some of those once I glaze them. Stay tuned, I have two invites to exhibit in the coming months. I’ll share.

in the studio.
At the moment, a small grouping of odd figurative pieces is occupying my time. They are painted with multiple polymer glazed layers on board. I begin each piece by transferring old anatomy “expressions” from a book. From those peculiar exaggerated drawings, I then build these creatures I am calling “Talking Heads” or “Fictive Beings”. They keep me intrigued and I love the surface quality of the glazing medium. It is beautiful and translucent.
